Dr. Gaines Thomas
DMD
Dr. Thomas, a specialist in pediatric dentistry, received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. He completed his residency and received his Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the Children’s Hospital Department of Pediatric Dentistry in Birmingham, Alabama. He is also a graduate of Auburn University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree.
Dr. Thomas has been practicing pediatric dentistry in Mobile for more than 30 years. He has held offices in numerous dental organizations including President of the Mobile Area Dental Society and President of the Alabama Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He served as President of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry Alumni Association. He received the Alabama Dental Association’s “Most Excellent Fellow” award and served as President of the Alabama Dental Association in 2010. Dr. Thomas has served on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry and served as President of the Southeastern Society in 2013. He is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Thomas is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he has served on the Vestry and as Senior Warden. He served on the St. Paul’s Episcopal School Board of Trustees and was Chairman of the Board from 2004-2006. Dr. Thomas and his wife Linda reside in Mobile and have three sons, Gaines Jr., Wilson, and Carter.
